Project 1A: Reading the Contexts of Traditional Street

Students are tasked to select a traditional street from the given lists of traditional streets located in Malaysia. Students are then tasked to research about the understanding of place contexts and the construction of the place identity and socio-cultural meanings of the selected street.

Reflection:

Throughout the project, I learned about the history of one of the oldest streets in Kuala Lumpur and the actions taken by the citizens of the street in order to preserve Jalan Sultan. I realized the importance of preserving the identity of Jalan Sultan and how the architecture, activities, businesses, market, plays a role in the identity of Jalan Sultan.
