PROJECT 3
In this project, we were tasked with designing a sensory space by incorporating things we've learned from Project 1 and Project 2. We are to take our design from Project 2 and convert it to a sensory space after identifying our dominant theme from the understanding of emotion.
Design Intention
I planned to use the same overall circular plan and design elements which are points and lines, but this time I wanted to use scale and proportion, and movement as my principles. I decided that my main theme will be drama and I will be focusing on the use of light and shadow to enhance my theme in my sensory space.
Design Process
I started by researching space and emotions to determine which type of space and emotion is best suited for my theme and my design intention. I decided to focus on circulation for the space to be able to have interaction with the occupant. I then developed the first test model which was able to provide interesting circulation but lacked the design and use of light and shadow which is the main factor of bringing out the dramatic experience in the space. I then developed a second design which was a sequence of space where it starts as an enclosed space that will progress into an open space. The second design had a good basis in terms of circulation and form but it lacked aesthetics and is too regular that made it plain. After a few discussions with the tutor, I finalized a design that had irregular form and shape but still retains the overall circular plan and included different methods of circulation which incorporate light and shadow into the space that brings out the dramatic experience in the space.

Reflection
From this project, I learned about how a space is able to interact with the occupant and the different methods of how space can interact with the occupant. I also learned about spatial organization and relationships along with sensory spaces.
